How To Add More Passion Into Your Life, Today!

Are you living a life that you are not fully passionate about? Do you feel exhausted at the end of each week?

No matter where you are in your life, you always have an opportunity to add more fun, passion and excitement to it. One thing that always excites me is remembering that we are all miracles. Did you know that science has done some calculations and some people suggest that the chance of you even getting here in the first place is 1:400 Trillion?

Isn’t that astounding? Hopefully it reminds you that you are not here by accident. You are here for a reason and I believe it has something to do with leaving the world a little better than you found it and having a lot of fun while doing just that. The journey begins with recognizing the best gift you can each give to everyone: be who you are. As human beings our natural state is love and with love comes a passionate, happy life.

So, how can you live in your natural state of love and passion more frequently? Here are a few ideas.

1. Get Present With People

So often we are busy checking emails, text messages, working or even watching T.V. that we don’t really give the people in our life our full presence. When was the last time you gave someone 100% of your attention? No distractions. No thoughts about anything else, just fully focusing on that person and what they had to say? In fact, when was the last time someone did that to you?

Presence is the #1 gift you can give any human being, as we all want to feel heard and loved. Presence will do that. You will quickly notice the more present you are with people, the more good energy you will emanate and receive and this will fill you with more joy and passion then you have had in a while.

2. Spice Up Your Life!

We’ve all heard it, ‘Variety is the spice of life’. But did you know it’s an actual human need? When was the last time you felt truly ‘alive’? I bet it was during a new experience. If you want more passion in your life, turn up the variety. Take a new class, learn a new skill, make new friends, travel or cook something you have never tried before. It doesn’t take much but you will have so much fun trying something new.

3. Are you Doing What You Love?

We spend so much of our adult lives working, it is important to ensure that we are doing something we love and feel passionate about.

If you don’t love what you do, then it’s time to re-examine your choices. I’m not saying quit your job today. What I am saying is perhaps there is another way to view your job or another position within your company (or another company), that is a better fit for you. Perhaps it might be time to start writing that business plan you have been thinking about. Either way, here are some questions to help you figure out what you are most passionate about:

  •  When you were a child, what activities did you love most? Who were you with when you were doing them? Why did you love doing them?
  • Who do you admire and aspire to be like? What is it about them that you see in yourself?
  • What places make you the happiest? Are you doing particular things or is just being in that place enough to put you in a state of happiness?
  • If you had all the money you would ever need to live the life you dreamed of, what would you do with your days?

No matter what the outcome of these questions, remember that you are worthy of having a life you love and are passionate about. Every day is a gift so don’t waste it doing something unfulfilling. Life IS too short for that. Start where you are, set some goals and start taking action, today.

4. Who Am I Being?

Everyday you wake up and go out into the world. Your life is an example of what to do or what not to do. With that thought in mind, who are you ‘being’, everyday? Are you being happy, grateful, optimistic, fun, supportive, compassionate, kind, eager, alive, passionate, etc.? No matter what is going on in your life, you always have the choice of who you will be in the moment.

Take a look at your answer to the, ‘Who do you admire?’ question.  Now, write out all of the qualities of that person you admire. Look at who they are ‘being’ each day. You can be that person, too.

When you wake up deliberately choosing who you will be, it’s empowering and exciting! As soon as you do, you will start seeing areas of your life that are going right for you. That will create a ripple effect and you will begin to feel more excited. Many people find journaling (including myself) a very powerful exercise to keep you focused on what is going right in your world.

5. Contribution

There is a great quote by Tony Robbins that I love, ‘The Secret to Living is Giving’. This is not just about giving money to charity; it’s about giving of yourself. How are you contributing to the world? Ask yourself, “How can I serve?”

What gets you excited about giving? Is there an organization you’d like to give more time to? Is there a person in your life who needs more of your attention? Can you give more of yourself at the office? Can you add more value to your customers?

Those who give of themselves find their lives more meaningful, passionate and exciting.

No matter where you are in your life, there are many simple ways to add more passion into your life today and beyond. How will you add more passion into your life?
